Regenerative braking is an efficient and environmentally friendly technology that converts kinetic energy lost in regular braking into electrical energy, which can be stored in the electric vehicle's battery and used to extend the driving range.

How does it work? 
In a "regular car," when we want to slow down, we press the brake pedal. The press creates friction between the brake pads and the disc to which the wheel is attached, causing the vehicle to slow down until it stops. The braking converts the kinetic energy present in the vehicle into heat through friction, which dissipates and thus the energy is wasted. In contrast, in an electric vehicle, the energy is not wasted but converted into electrical energy that is recycled into the electric vehicle's battery through electric motors that act like a generator.

It is important to note that regenerative braking does not replace the vehicle's braking system but complements it. The more regenerative braking is used, the more electricity can be recycled into the battery, saving wear and tear on pads and discs.

Advantages of Regenerative Braking 
There are several advantages to using regenerative braking:

Energy efficiency: Using regenerative braking can help increase the driving range by 5%-20%. 
Reducing wear on the braking system: Regenerative braking reduces the use of brakes, resulting in less wear on brake pads and significantly extending the life of the brakes. 
Smoother and more pleasant driving: Regenerative braking allows for more gradual and comfortable deceleration, as it can be controlled more precisely through the brake pedal. As a result, the ride in the vehicle is smoother and more pleasant.

Until today, we understood that the electric vehicle consumes electricity from the vehicle's battery, but does not supply it. New technologies allow the electric vehicle to also become an energy source in several ways. Some of the technologies already exist, but some are still developing and are expected to become more common in the future.

The technology allows the electric vehicle to charge from the grid and supply electricity back, depending on the size of the vehicle's battery and its bidirectional charging capability. As of today, only a few vehicles have this capability, but over time we will see more options for bidirectional charging as technology develops.

V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) Charging devices using the vehicle A technology that allows an electric vehicle to supply electricity to other devices. The electric vehicle can be likened to a large battery on wheels, which can be used to power anything that requires electricity such as electronic devices, electrical appliances, tools, and more.

The V2L technology works through a DC-AC converter, which converts the direct current (DC) stored in the vehicle's battery to alternating current (AC), which is the type of electricity used by most devices. The converter can be connected to the vehicle's charging socket, or a dedicated V2L socket can be installed. The technology can provide backup power in case of a power outage and facilitate the operation of electrical devices when going on a trip without the need for a generator.

It is important to use appropriate equipment and precautions when using V2L.

V2G (Vehicle-to-Grid) Charging the power grid using the vehicle This technology allows the electric vehicle to charge and discharge energy back to the power grid. This can be useful in situations where there is an excess production of renewable energy (such as solar or wind energy), or in situations where additional energy is needed in the grid (such as during peak hours).

V2H (Vehicle-to-Home) Charging the home using the vehicle This technology allows the electric vehicle to charge the home in case of a power outage, or in cases where trying to save on electricity costs.
